Give credit where credit is due. That should be the number 1 rule to this blogging game. If you snatch something from someone else's site, at least give them a shout out or a little blurb in the corner that says (source)!!! I try my hardest to give people credit when I go to their site and post some of their content over here!!!!!!
Well, everyone say hello to Bossip!!!!!! The folks over at Bossip snatched the Mary J Blige scans from blog buddie Necole Bitchie's site but they didn't even realize the photos were watermarked and to be honest, neither did I until it was brought to my attention!!! (Click the screen print for the largeness to see the watermark). I visit Bossip everyday but I think today may be my last day over there!!!!! There are some other black blogs, that shall remain nameless, that will post things and not give credit to the people that emailed them the content or even show love to the blog they got the info from. Some of these sites will also "SPAM" your name and even "moderate" any comments that list the name of your site or a site that they feel is their competition.
Is it really that serious, yall?!?!? We all wonder why Perez Hilton has all these shows and gets a bunch of love from celebs and major tv shows and websites. You know what I think the reason is? Because we, as black folks, hate to see others prosper. Why don't some of the top black bloggers have shows on BET? Why haven't they been added as a guest host on that The Five Show or The Black Carpet? Why haven't they filled in on ET, Extra Tv, and Access Hollywood? Because mainstream media STILL doesn't take us seriously enough to give us the venue to let our voice be heard. Blogs are the NEW MEDIA. Celebs don't fear entertainment news shows and magazines- THEY FEAR BLOGS!!!! Victoria Beckham even featured Perez Hilton on her little short lived reality show but did Keyshia Cole take any time to visit black bloggers on her TOP RATED BET REALITY SHOW???? No!!!!
Let's get in together for 2008!!!!! Let's start with Bossip and then next, Media Take Out needs to stop with their little "We were the first to post this" disclaimer where they also state how it's not good journalism not to cite your source. No, MTO- what's not good journalism is when you make up outrageous stories and print them as truths!!!!!
