Fashion Week takes place September 19-23, 2007 at the Garden & Plaza Atriums in the World Trade Center Atlanta, which is located in the Sun Trust Plaza in downtown Atlanta. If you have ever been to Atlanta, you know that nothing is complete with out a GRAND SOIREE!!!!!!! The opening night party will be held on Wednesday, September 19th at Fever Nightclub. Fever is one of the hottest spots in the A so the opening party is definitely one that can't be missed. Get there early and come red carpet ready because doors open at 11pm and I'm sure the creme de la creme of the city will be in attendance. Also being held that same night is a silent auction on that same night and 100% of the proceeds from the auction and also a percentage of the proceeds from all of the events will benefit the Save The Children foundation. Studio 72 and SoSo Famous

It was officially going down last night at the grand opening of Studio 72 in metro Atlanta. Studio 72 is Jermaine Dupri's new club located on Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker. The invite-only party was STAR STUDDED. Everyone came out to show their support..... According to Ms. Sophia on V-103, out of all the celebs in the house, Janet was the only one with security guards... The grand opening for the general public is tomorrow and the event is being called "Cruch Groove" hosted by Franki Ski. Studio 72 stays open until 5am!!!!!!

Jermaine states that the line will initially only be sold to exclusive stores. The line will consist of t-shirts, hoodies, belts and belt buckles. I have NEVER thought of JD as a man with a great sense of fashion but who am I.................... :-)

MAGIC Day 2:

Upgrade U: Two years after the storm......

It's your girl Miss Nista back again!!!! As we all know today marks the 2nd anniversary of "Hurricane Katrina", which has been labeled the deadliest hurricane to ever hit the United States. On this day, August 29,2005, Hurricane Katrina touched down on the Gulf Coast destroying lives, leaving thousands of survivors homeless, moneyless and searching for answers on how this awful tragedy had took place. Katrina formed on August 23 during the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season and caused devastation along much of the north-central Gulf Coast. The most severe loss of life and property damage occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, which flooded as the levee system catastrophically failed, in many cases hours after the storm had moved inland. (source wikipedia). The natives in Louisiana and Mississippi were warned before the storm but never expected for their lives to be destroyed in a single day.

Many of us tuned in to our local news channels in complete shock and utter dismay as we watched the images appear across the television with tears in our eyes. It looked as though Louisiana was a third world country as our people pleaded for help searching frantically for family members, food, water, shelter. Once the sadness disappeared anger set in! We wondered why our President did not take action sooner to get food and help the elderly evacuate. Seeing that when the Tsunami hit we helped rapidly with no questions, we all started to think "President" Bush did not like "Black people". It took Kanye West to finally broadcast every African- Americans thoughts on the air waves.

The aftermath survivors continue to rebuild their lives. Some have relocated to other states such as Texas, Georgia, and Ohio to begin restart their lives. We have Louisiana residents whom refuse to move and will rebuilt there homes soon. FEMA continues to extend deadlines for survivors but that may never be enough to accommodate for the major loss they've suffered. In hopes of rebuilding the city that we all call the BIG Easy hosted the Essence Festival in July in hopes to boost there economy by bringing major celebrities to the event. In the year 2008 it will also host the NBA All-Star Game in efforts to help rebuild as well . As this day finally approaches let us all be "Thankful' for the family and friends we have and not take them for granted; because it can all be taken away in the "wink of an eye".

More than 100 years ago, African-Americans created and predominately controlled the industry but now that power has shifted. Most of the weave sold in the US is manufactured in China and South Korea.

Russell Simmons Steps Down

Russell Simmons, the founder of Phat Farm, announced late Thursday that he is stepping down as the CEO of Phat Fashions to pursue other interests. Simmons sold Phat Farm to Kellwood Company in 2004 for $140 million but he remained the CEO of the company.

Along with the announcement of Simmons stepping down came the announcement that Phat Fashions will partner with Long Street Industries to design and market clothing under the Phat Farm name. Their new line of sportswear and apparel will launch in the Spring of 2008. Word also has it that Kimora has allegedly been promoted to Creative Director of Phat Fashions.

Common Covers JET!!!!

Socially conscious rapper turned actor Common (Lonnie Rashid Lynn) is looking QUITE DELICIOUS on the cover of JET magazine this week. Inside, he speaks about his new album, being in the hip-hop game for over 15 years, and his new found fame as an actor. He will be appearing along side TI and Denzel Washington in the new film American Gangster coming this november. Along with being an accomplished rapper and actor, Common also has his own line of hats "Soji" and a non-profit organization for young adults called The Common Ground Foundation. He will also be the first hip-hop artist to be featured in Starbucks coffee shops. Also in this week's issue of JET is and interview with David & Tamela Mann (from Tyler Perry's famed plays) and a gorgeous Beauty of the Week (FINALLY)!!!!!! I can't WAIT to see American Gangster. Salt N Pepa Push It to Reality Television

Miss Nista!!! Reporting for all you Reality Television Junkies like myself. The 1st female super group Salt N Pepa ( my favorite group of all time) are finally back on the scene. VH1 has agreed to do reality show for the duo to reunite the ladies on and off the stage!! (They had Beef??) Reuniting the Grammy-award winning duo may be more difficult than they think since unresolved issues still exist. Salt feels that she wasn't appreciated in the group and Pepa blames Salt for the nasty break up. Salt-n-Pepa definitely set MAJOR fashion trends back in the day. Hair cuts, cut-out jeans, colorful leather jackets- the works!!!!! Hopefully they will do the same this time around and set some trends for the old fans that are now grown and sexy. The show will be premiering on Monday October 15th. Tune in and watch the drama unfold!!! Let's hope Mo'nique won't step in and put them on Charm School.

I searched the internet until I got tired to find this look, or at least something similar, and I came up empty-handed. :-( The search will continue. This is going on my wish list and I guarantee I will be a "Mini-Keys" before the end of the fall.

Rhianna has been doing her thing all week- broken foot and all. This chick won't let anything stop her. Miss Nista is really feeling this look so I predict this is her swagger jack for the week. If you aren't into hats, just add the major bob-haircut (see below) and you will be UNTOUCHABLE!!!!

Eve Set to Re-Launch FETISH

Eve is set to re-launch her clothing line Fetish this fall. The 'new and improved' Fetish is going to be more grown-up and reflective of the actress/rapper's own personal style.

Eve was hesitant to re-launch the line due to the dislike of the design direction through former partnering company INNOVO Group but agreed when new partner company Signature Apparel signed on and agreed to make sure the product would be upgraded with more fashionable pieces and better fabrics.

The new line will debut this fall with leather jackets, high-waist denim and skirts (yeah), over-sized sweaters, and just a few logo t-shirts. The brand is looking to stay away from over-saturating the products with the "Fetish" name. Eve is also going to be performing on Friday, August 24th at a free concert in Grant Park for Good Morning America. The park is situated at 41st and 6th Ave in NYC and festivities begin at 6am.

Last night Power 105 and Hot 97 held a Bowl -Off at Harlem Lanes in New York to benefit Ja Rule's Life Foundation. Celebrities and radio personalities were on hand at the bowl-off. If you have ever listened to the Ed Lover Show in the morning you know Ed always talks about 2 things- his bowling game and also his Fashion. Ed is definitely fly and has been setting fashion trends way back since his days on YO MTV Raps!!!! Last night Ed was photo'd with the beautiful Salt and he was wearing a t-shirt that immediately caught my eye. So I did my reasearch and found Bleach Nation NYC. Celebs came through for the "Illegal Tender" premiere at Chelsea West Cinema in NYC.

Illegal tender is the story of Mille DeLeon. DeLeon, played by Wanda De Jesus, is the rich widow of a drug dealer who is hiding from the mob because they are looking for payback against her late husband's family. It also stars reggaeton star Tego Calderon, who plays a gangsta named Choco. Illegal Tender opens in theaters this Friday and was directed by Franc Reyes and produced by John Singleton.

According to publisher Harper Collins, the book entitled "That Extra Half An Inch- Hair, Heels, and Everything In Between" will offer guidance on how to look good and feel great everytime you leave the house. Have you ever thought about "Inner Peace"?

Often times we think of obtaining material objects to find happiness, whether it be purchasing a new vehicle, buying a new home, or going on an all out shopping spree. But usually, once you get the new object you find yourself still longing for more. Have you ever thought of "Inner peace" or having a "piece of mind" instead of supplementing that personal emptiness with material objects? Try some thing new this week or the weeks ahead to- find inner peace through the power of Prayer, you could visit your church for a weekly Bible study class or even meditation by enrolling in yoga or pilates classes . Instead of buying a new pair of shoes or a new outfit to feel good, purchase a book or cd about inner peace to learn meditation practices to increase your focus. New research shows meditation reduces risky health factors and increases mental abilities such as concentration and longevity. You could also treat your self to a personal healing massage. Trust me it's better than any material item that you could ever purchase. When you feel good internally, the external will look even better. Thought for the week: Find "Peace of Mind" within and everything else will come along naturally.

Nick Cannon's Stop Hating Campaign

Hollywood mega-star Nick Cannon has teamed up with non-profit organization "1600 Avenue" at this years Hip Hop Leaders Conference to promote his "Stop Hating" campaign. "1600 Avenue" was created in 1995 by Frank Satterwhite while he was attending the Univ. of California at Berkeley and is a campaign aimed at uplifting at-risk youth and motivating them to pursue a college education and explore technology careers. Nick Cannon states "There are a lot of synergies between Stop Hating and Hip Hop Leaders. We are working together because both organizations are committed to uplifting youth, and bringing the global hip hop community together, we must put an end to hate." He also states that this campaign will promote the idea of 'One Nation. One Culture'... "because we are all neighbors in this great country and must all coexist culturally". PNB Nation will produce t-shirts and bracelets with the statement "STOP HATING.... One Nation. One Culture". Erykah Badu was spotted yesterday performing at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. I see she has decided to take styling advice from Lauryn Hill. This is definitely NOT a good look for Ms. Badu. I am almost positive that she sounded a helluva lot better than she looked.

The rappers came out in full effect for day 2 of the TJ's DJ's conference down in Miami this past weekend. Almost everyone seemed to have on thing in common - THAT DAMN WHITE TEE!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love to see a man in a fresh white tee with some fresh Force One's or Tim's but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Alot of clubs have already taken the first step and instituted a "NO PLAIN COLORED TEE" policy and I appreciate that. It doesn't take much thought to put on a white tee, some expensive jeans and some fresh sneakers. I love a man that can COORDINATE and put a whole outfit together from head to toe. It shows that he has taken the time and effort to appreciate and showcase his own unique style. Even for the women, with all of the uniquely designed white tees we have available there is no excuse to go with the plain white tee from your son's top drawer. Step your style game up- ASAP!!!
